Professional proofreader and copyeditor
Helping writers achieve polished, high-quality written content
Professional proofreading can give your content a polished edge, taking your written communications to the next level. I offer a trained second pair of eyes to check for the most subtle of errors and ensure that your copy helps to maintain your professional and credible image.
Specialising in non-fiction and academic texts, I offer fast and reliable proofreading and copyediting on a wide range of written materials:
Brochures and leaflets
Magazine and journal articles
My main areas of interest are the Armed Forces, military history, aviation, management and linguistics. However, I am happy to work on a wide range of subjects and welcome enquiries on work relating to any topic.
I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) and adhere to their code of practice.
More than a spell check
In addition to ensuring that your spelling and grammar are tip-top throughout, I will also check for inconsistencies in style, word usage and layout. I will ensure that punctuation is accurate and that your message is saying exactly what you want it to. My meticulous approach will guarantee that your end product looks professional and reads beautifully.
I offer 3 tiers of service depending on the level of edit that you require. For details on each tier and my corresponding rates, head over to my Prices page.
If you are looking for proofreading for your dissertation or thesis, please have a look at my Students page, as my terms of service are slightly different for academic services.
Choosing the right proofreader or copyeditor for you is a big deal. So, to make sure that you are absolutely confident with your choice, I am happy to offer a small sample edit (up to 500 words) of your material, free of charge.
How does it work?
Most of my work is done on MS Word using track changes.
When I have finished, you will receive the following:
A copy of your original document with the tracked changes so that you can see all the amendments that have been made.
A clean, unmarked copy of your final document.
A queries sheet with any additional questions or suggestions.
If you prefer, I can also work on PDFs using mark-up tools or electronic British Standards Institution (BSI)
