My name is Jessica and I live in the beautiful town of Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
Prior to starting up as a freelance proofreader, I spent 13 years in the Royal Air Force. Initially working within flight operations before moving into a training and development role. Following my military career, I have worked as a training advisor delivering management qualifications to learners at a number of national organisations.
My academic background lies in linguistics and I have a first-class honours degree in modern language studies (English and Spanish).
My study of linguistics coupled with my military experience has allowed me to combine a keen eye for detail with an excellent command of the English language – proofreading was the natural choice!
Through my roles in learning and development, I have produced high quality training material for both the public and private sectors and have experience proofreading student assignments, including by those with English as a second language. Since becoming a freelance proofreader and copy-editor, I have worked on a wide variety of projects including published books, blog articles and academic publications.
I have formally trained in proofreading through the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP).
